Sony Nex 3 (2011)
Fyra was the brand name for the replacement of the Benelux trains running between Amsterdam and Brussels. They were supposed to run brand new multiple units over the recently completed high speed tracks in the Netherlands.
But the Dutch railways spent most of the budget on the rail line and therefore ordered cheap trains from Italy. Too cheap in fact, because they were delivered too late and when they got them in 2012, they had way too many issues. The service was renamed in 2013 to Intercity Direct and they changed the livery to traditional NS colors.
But this photo was taken in 2011, a year before the debacle with the new trains. They had to run something, so the NS leased Traxx locomotives and coupled them to intercity coaches in the Fyra livery. And while the current livery looks nice, I think this one was better.
